The Hop + Grain Tettnang Hops - 100gm

Selected from an old German land race, Tettnanger is grown the world over. Swiss, US and Australian varieties can be found on the market today though some foreign versions labeled Tettnanger are actually a hybridised mix with Fuggle and not considered a true Tettnanger hop. Tettnanger is grown around its native village of Tettnang in southwest Germany and in small quantities near lake Konstanz in Switzerland. Though characteristically similar to Hallertau and genetically similar to Saaz, Tettnanger has notably more farnesene content giving it a soft spiciness and a subtle, balanced, floral and herbal aroma. It is also great as a dual-use hop, and considered by many as being particularly well suited to European lagers and pilsners. • The Empire Strikes Back Dark Ale - 10L All Grain Kit

Not specified The Empire Strikes Back Dark Ale - 10L All Grain Kit

Inspired by the Star Wars original trilogy, the Pop Culture Brews podcast (2019-2021) crew set out on an intergalactic mission to create beer recipes inspired by episodes IV, V, and VI. For the second episode in the trilogy—The Empire Strikes Back (1980)—Pop Culture Brews cohost Paul Crowther (aka The Mad Brewer) created a beer recipe that captures the film’s darker, more sinister tone. Adding Carafa III, a dark-roasted barley, makes the recipe darker (~45 SRM) and instills some mild roasted notes in the aftertaste. While this beer is impenetrably dark compared to its Episode IV predecessor, The Empire Strikes Back Dark Ale is still bursting full of Citra hop flavour, reflecting the lighter moments of Episode V. It shows how easy it is to go to the Dark Side. May the wort be with you. Our all-grain kits are our own tried and tested recipes for classic and modern beer styles. Included in the kit are all the ingredients needed to make beer using a standard BIAB (Brew in a Bag) setup such as our BIAB Starter kit, or your preferred equipment such as a Grainfather. You will also need a set of scales for measuring hops. All our all-grain kits contain a milled grain bill, hops, yeast, as well as a recipe card. Thomas Coopers Thomas Coopers 86 Days Pilsner

Thomas Cooper, his wife Ann and their two children set sail for Australia from Plymouth, England aboard the SS Omega on the 29th May 1852. The treacherous sea voyage took 86 days and seemed like an eternity but they finally reached the sunny shores of Adelaide on the 24th August. 86 Days Pilsner pays homage to the journey Thomas took to make a fresh start for his family. It’s golden in colour with subtle malty sweetness and elegant refined herbal notes, a refreshingly clean, crisp bitter finish and rich frothy head. Thankfully, it will take you a lot less than 86 days to make it.

  • Thomas Coopers Devils Half Ruby Porter

Thomas Coopers Thomas Coopers Devils Half Ruby Porter

In 1862, Coopers brewery operations were located close to an area known as the Devil’s Half Acre. This rather intimidating name stemmed from the somewhat menacing people that frequented the neighbourhood. As such, it had a reputation for being a place to steer clear of at night. This devilish brew is inspired by the shady characters of the Devil’s Half Acre. As black as the sinister night, this full bodied Porter has ruby hints, delicious chocolate toffee malt character, moderate bitterness with fruity hop notes and a rich creamy head. It’s sure to bring out your dark side.

  • Toffee Malt per kg

    Gladfield Toffee Malt per kg

Gladfield Toffee Malt is a unique malt produced by Gladfield Farm & Malting. Basically a fully caramalized malt that has been roasted at very low temperature. This special roasting cycle produces a very light colour and the resulting malt is toffee like to chew instead of the crystalized popcorn affect of using higher temperatures. The resulting malt is very popular for adding a malty toffee flavour to lighter coloured beers and also adds good beer stability, body and mouth feel. Due to the higher moisture content of Gladfield Toffee malt, we advise that when milling, the Toffee malt is blended through with your base malts. This ensures a good crush and full release of the rich Toffee malt flavour. Specification: Moisture (%) Max <7.5 Extract (dry) Range 74% Wort Colour Range EBC 10-20 Typical Colour 12 Usage: Adds Toffee / Honey flavours with low colour impact Usage Rates Guidance: Up to 25%

  • Topaz Hops - 100gm

The Hop + Grain Topaz Hops - 100gm

Australian-born multi-purpose variety Topaz features elements of clove-like spice and a light, lychee-esque fruitiness. Samuel Adams uses it in their Tasman Red IPA. When used alongside a citrus-heavy hop (Samuel Adams used Galaxy), it gives a surprising depth of flavour. Created in 1985 by Hop Products Australia in the Rostrevor Breeding Garden in Victoria, Topaz was always intended to be a high-alpha hop. The result of a mix between an Australian high-alpha variety and a UK male sourced from Wye College in England, Topaz is a unique blend of Australian and European flavours and aromas. Topaz was initially used as a bittering hop, but in the late 2000s increased experimentation with the variety uncovered its intense worth as a late addition. It features resinous and grassy notes when dry hopped and its fruity profile really shines when utilised in higher gravity recipes.
